"An Echo from the Past" is a thought-provoking and mind-boggling read. It begins with Gagan and Maya, who fall in love with each other in the paintings that they made. Gagan is an art prodigy who remains to be himself through his childhood.
From his childhood he used to predict the forthcoming events and remained aligned with himself and his sketches. He begins with predicting certain events and the voices he calls. Tenants make him question his sanity.
Quote from the book that piqued me:
💕" She looked down – it was a sketch of her, sitting on the veranda with a cup of tea, looking out at the hills. The lines were delicate, precise, but what caught her breath was the expression he’d captured – not tiredness, not even peace – something between acceptance and ache."
💕 "Aarika smiled, tired but genuine. “Maybe the cracks are just too hard to see.”"
I liked how he managed the tough scenarios and talked about humanity. The concepts of cloning, genetics, and schizophrenia are blended in a commendable manner. His gentle interactions with Aarika, Maya, and his friends are vividly depicted.
The author has well penned the story with ease and put up varied layers of characters. His unique and heart-touching lines make the reader ponder on little things and how one perceives the things.
Overall, it is a commendable read.
