The Journey of Us by Rahul Vohra
Long-distance romance is hard to survive. But here I get to read a fresh perspective of love ranging from different sweet moments. This is a heartbreaking and emotionally touching book that makes you feel the pressure of love. The heavy themes of the book are handled with care.
The story is narrated through the perspective of Vikram who loves Avantika. Vikram has his own thoughts, feelings and struggles that are shared in varied snippets of his life. Avantika has her own dreams, responsibilities and fears. As life foresees unexpected circumstances like distance, family pressure, and difficult situations, their love faces challenges. But with time they seem to understand their choices and realise the priority of closed ones and their decisions.
Even when things become confusing and challenging, their relationship is tested many times. They make mistakes, feel hurt, and sometimes grow emotionally distant. But through all these ups and downs, they learn an important lesson: love is not about being perfect or always happy, but about supporting each other during tough times.
The author successfully transitions his real-world observations of the diaspora into a gripping, atmospheric narrative. The author vividly shows that even when life doesn’t go as planned, staying strong together can make love deeper and more meaningful.
I appreciate their meetings despite the Delhi traffic. Their spending time at Khas Bagh, where Vikram expresses his love for her. Her wishing him a birthday with a beautiful present and making him feel special was the sweet moment.
Overall, I enjoyed reading their journey through ups and downs. I loved the theme that love sustains the hurdles of situations if the love is true and trust is firm.
