When A Met B/ Caution: No Love Story Brewing Here by Sapna Bhattacharya
I was tired of reading romance stories, so I picked up a story about two girls who have been rivals since college days. Their destiny makes them face each other in the workplace too.
The story is about A who moves to the city to build a successful career. To her surprise, she gets her college senior as her senior in the workplace too. She discovers that her college senior is identical to her in terms of work ethic, earning recognition from everyone in the office.
She could not risk her career, so to survive, she needs to play, but how?? Her motive to support her mother and earn respect as a talented technical writer is at stake.
On the other end, B is an ambitious colleague. As B competes with A for recognition and success A begins to question her confidence, values, and choices. The story shows how competition can affect friendships, self-esteem, and career goals.
The author vividly presents workplace rivalry, personal growth, and the challenges of adulthood. The writing is simple and relatable. The characters feel real, and their struggles are easy to understand.
The author does a good job of showing the pressures of corporate life and the difficult decisions people sometimes face in order to succeed. A’s journey is inspiring because she tries to stay true to herself even when life becomes difficult.
What makes the story especially engaging is how relatable it feels. The characters, particularly A and B, are layered, intriguing, and emotionally real, while the supporting cast adds depth, humor, and heart to the narrative.
The office setting becomes more than just a backdrop; it reflects an era when life moved at a gentler pace, yet emotional conflicts, insecurities, and aspirations felt just as intense and meaningful as they do today.
Sapna Bhattacharya does an excellent job recreating the mood and texture of the times, making the reader nostalgic for a simpler Mumbai while still keeping the storytelling breezy, entertaining, and emotionally engaging. There is a natural charm to the writing that makes the pages flow effortlessly.
Overall, it is a heartwarming read.
