COLLECTED IN SILENCE: Explore the depths of Silence through enchanting Short Stories by Rahul Bhandari
Collected In Silence is a mesmerising anthology of short fiction that invites readers to explore the many shades of silence—its comfort, its mystery, its power. From quiet moments of introspection to the unspoken tensions between characters, each story reveals how silence can speak louder than words.
The book is a collection of seven short stories, each centred on different dimensions of silence. It vividly depicts varied spaces from personal reflection to relational distance. Whether it’s the stillness after heartbreak or the hush before a major decision, this collection symbolises silence as a lens to explore the human condition.
Quote from the book:
“That’s the thing,” he said. “We’re social creatures. We pretend independence is strength. But at our core, we're pack animals. Loneliness is unnatural. Living alone is a rebellion against our biology.”
I liked the story about twin sisters Anita and Kavita from Karora Village. After an accident, Kavita needs to live as Anita because everyone thinks Anita is alive. The confusion, the emotional struggle, and missing her own identity felt very real. When the truth finally comes out, it feels like a quiet acceptance about what actually happened and how she managed to live with it despite being a different personality.
Rahul Bhandari crafts moments where emotions simmer beneath stillness. He weaves the kind of silence that follows heartbreak, precedes a life-altering choice, or wraps itself around solitude like a familiar blanket. Each story feels like a quiet conversation with the reader, intimate and unhurried.
Overall, these are quiet acceptances of the circumstances and the related emotions.
