The Secret of the Palamu Fort is a mixture of mystery, detective fiction & history. The book is set in the picturesque region of Jharkhand, starring a detective named Robin Horo who solves the mysterious murders related to some ancient history.

The story started with the murder case, where police came to Robin for consultation. As per police and alibis, murder was done by a ghost. And they cannot work on an entity which didn't exist. Robin readily agreed. His involvement didn't stop further crimes; one more murder happened along with a few more attacks. How will Robin solve the case when everyone except him wanted to avoid further investigation?

On the other side, 350 years back, Raja Medini Ray recruited a boy named Satyabhama into his royal guards. Later on, he gave Satyabhama a task. In current time, the ghost attacking people has the same name, Satyabhama. Do read the book to know what is the mystery behind the Ghost of Satyabhama.

This book gives me a major 'Feluda'-kinda vibe, and I like it. Here the characters are almost similar to those in Feluda by Satyajit Ray. We get to see Robin in Feluda's place and Neil (Robin's cousin brother) in Topse's place, and our favourite Lalmohan Babu, aka Jatayu, is replaced by Babulalji, aka Tornado; he also writes books. I loved to read this trope in this new form.

Talking about the writing style, I loved it as well. It's filled with anticipation, and due to its fast-paced nature yet slow-burn story, I was completely engrossed in it. The pace is maintained throughout the book, though the ending was predictable. I enjoyed this book a lot.

The author's clear and detailed prose showcases their thorough research about the Chero dynasty and love for Jharkhand. Detective Robin Horo, the protagonist, quickly became a favourite. While I was initially confused by the shifting timelines, I grasped them quickly and found them engaging.

Overall, The Secret of the Palamu Fort seems like a fun and engaging detective story, especially if you enjoy a dash of the supernatural and a new cultural setting. If you are looking for a light, thrilling read, this book is for you.

कहानी की शुरुआत एक कत्ल के मामले से होती है, जिसमें पुलिस रॉबिन से सलाह लेने आती है। पुलिस और गवाहों के बयानों के मुताबिक, यह कत्ल किसी भूत ने किया था। और वे ऐसी किसी चीज़ पर काम नहीं कर सकते थे जिसका कोई वजूद ही न हो। रॉबिन फौरन मान गया। उसके शामिल होने के बाद भी जुर्म नहीं रुके; एक और कत्ल हुआ और साथ ही कुछ और हमले भी हुए। रॉबिन इस मामले को कैसे सुलझाएगा, जब उसके अलावा बाकी सब लोग आगे की जाँच से बचना चाहते थे?

दूसरी तरफ, 350 साल पहले, राजा मेदिनी राय ने सत्यभामा नाम के एक लड़के को अपनी शाही सेना में भर्ती किया था। बाद में, उन्होंने सत्यभामा को एक काम सौंपा। आज के समय में, लोगों पर हमला करने वाले भूत का नाम भी सत्यभामा ही है। सत्यभामा के भूत के पीछे का रहस्य जानने के लिए यह किताब ज़रूर पढ़ें।

यह किताब मुझे काफ़ी हद तक 'फेलूदा' जैसी लगती है, और मुझे यह पसंद आई। यहाँ के किरदार सत्यजीत रे की 'फेलूदा' कहानियों के किरदारों से काफ़ी मिलते-जुलते हैं। हमें फेलूदा की जगह रॉबिन और तोपसे की जगह नील (रॉबिन का चचेरा भाई) देखने को मिलते हैं, और हमारे पसंदीदा लालमोहन बाबू, जिन्हें जटायु भी कहते हैं, की जगह बाबूलालजी हैं, जिन्हें 'टॉरनेडो' भी कहा जाता है; वे भी किताबें लिखते हैं। मुझे इस तरह की कहानी को इस नए रूप में पढ़ना बहुत अच्छा लगा।

लिखने के अंदाज़ की बात करें, तो वह भी मुझे बहुत पसंद आया। यह कहानी उत्सुकता से भरी है, और इसकी तेज़ रफ़्तार के बावजूद धीरे-धीरे खुलने वाली कहानी की वजह से, मैं इसमें पूरी तरह खो गया था। पूरी किताब में कहानी की रफ़्तार एक जैसी बनी रहती है, हालाँकि इसका अंत पहले से ही पता चल जाता है। मुझे यह किताब पढ़ने में बहुत मज़ा आया।

लेखक की साफ़ और विस्तार से लिखी शैली चेरो राजवंश के बारे में उनकी गहरी रिसर्च और झारखंड के प्रति उनके प्यार को दिखाती है। जासूस रॉबिन होरो, जो इस कहानी का मुख्य किरदार है, जल्दी ही मेरा पसंदीदा बन गया। हालाँकि शुरुआत में अलग-अलग समय-सीमाओं के बीच कहानी के बदलने से मैं थोड़ा उलझन में पड़ गया था, लेकिन मैंने उन्हें जल्दी ही समझ लिया और वे मुझे काफ़ी दिलचस्प लगीं।
