Rakht Banddhan : The Blood Bond by Dipnanda Bhaduri
Rakht Bandhan is a thrilling psychological thriller that has the essence of paranormal or supernatural powers taking a hold on the beautiful mansion and the people living inside. It made me so gripped throughout that I finished this book in one sitting.
The story revolves around Bhargavi, a woman whose life takes an unexpected turn when she is referred to as a housemaid in a beautiful mansion. Though surrounded by luxurious gardens and grand buildings, it seemed to be giving an uncomfortable essence. She was looking for a job after her mother's death, and the mansion turns her life upside down.
It initially appears to be a place of refuge for her, with some haunting voices and warnings making her senseless. It slowly reveals layers of unease as the house begins to show signs that something far beyond the ordinary lingers within its walls.
I was intrigued to know about Kumar and his unsettling past, and the way Bhargavi takes care of Rishav makes her very close to Kumar. But why was she so protective about Rishav? Who was haunting the mansion? Why did she seek revenge?
The author gradually creates a tense atmosphere, allowing the mystery to develop piece by piece rather than rushing to a hasty conclusion. This slow burn strategy kept me intrigued about what was genuinely causing the problems that began to affect everyone in the household.
The author skilfully balances supernatural suspense with emotional narrative, allowing the reader to engage not just with the mystery but also with the core human relationships. 🤌
Overall, "Rakht Banddhan" is a compelling tale that tackles themes of sacrifice, fate, and the profound links that bind people together.
