The Witch, the Princess and the Tower of Doom by Rajesh Talwar

The Witch, the Princess and the Tower of Doom by Rajesh Talwar | Book Review

Talwar writes in an approachable and clear manner. This type of prose gives you the impression that you are witnessing the story unfold in front of you rather than reading it. Because of his detailed yet light descriptions, readers of all ages can enjoy this novel. And after reading his earlier works, I can state that this story feels so unique because of his ability to change the tone of his narrative. It has the wisdom of a fable and the simplicity of a fairy tale.

Rather from being a helpless damsel, Princess Pihu is brave, inquisitive, and unexpectedly relatable. In contrast, Churailamma is an intriguing figure. Is she mean? Or is she much smarter than others think? Because Talwar never gives away the solution, I was captivated by the ambiguity. Prince Sukumar is also a welcome change. He is one of the most lovable people I've encountered in a long time because of the lovely contrast between his emotional strength and physical weakness.
