A Glimpse of the Future by Mayank Manohar

What have you lost?
What have you found?
In the world of chances,
Have you redeemed,
What you could have not lost?

This is an absolutely emotional and inspiring book. It’s the sequel to Shadow of the Past and follows the lives of four characters Rehan, Lavanya, Arpita, and Namrata each of whom faces big challenges in life. The story unfolds across two distinct timelines: one set in the past and the other in the present.

The story begins with Rehan confronting profound heartbreak and solitude: Arpita has left him without explanation, and Lavanya (his first love) has tragically lost her battle with cancer. Left alone, Rehan is now struggling with loneliness, desperately seeking Arpita and trying to make sense of his life’s turmoil.

The book's characters are both intriguing and well-developed. Arpita's internal conflict, Namrata's muted optimism, and Lavanya's fight with cancer are all plot points that add to the story's complexity and emotional connection. Manohar's writing is lucid and captivating without being preachy, with its diary-like reflections, vivid interior monologues, and well-paced storytelling.

The plot is easy for readers to follow because of the straightforward language. The captivating and engrossing narration makes it a quick and enjoyable read, but it also has depth that allows readers to reflect on the main ideas of the story.

Rehan's characters are incredibly well-developed, and each one has a unique and significant function. Not a single moment feels incomplete or out of place.

Anyone who appreciates stories that examine life's obstacles and the fortitude required to overcome them should pick up this book.
