The Book Of Nalanda - An Ancient Mystery, A Modern Reckoning by Gautam Mishra

"The Book of Nalanda" is a gripping and captivating read. I was hooked from the beginning till the end. It blends mystery, mythology, and modernity adroitly. Each chapter is perfectly paced and thrilling, engaging, intriguing, and layered with suspense.

The story starts with a drought in the village. Here a poor family is on the verge of losing their everything. In that pitiful condition, they find a gold plate, which changes their lives as well as the situation of their poor village altogether. Then they meet a group of people who are members of some secret society whose task is to find the relic that their fathers and forefathers dedicated their lives to.

It is intriguing to read how the narrative unfolds the twists and turns. I kept yearning for what was going to happen throughout.

The author skilfully brings back the tragedy and grandeur of ancient Nalanda while infusing it with a contemporary urgency that seems uncannily relevant. The narrative is intricate, multi-layered, and tense. You sense the pressing need, the burden of lost knowledge, and the imminent danger of its abuse. There is action, emotion, espionage, and philosophy.

All in all, it feels more like a warning than merely a story. This book got me thinking about what secrets are still buried deep in our past. I heartily recommend it to anyone who enjoys ancient mythology with a contemporary twist.
