A LIFE ALMOST LIVED by Jagriti Yadav

Jagriti Yadav's A Life Almost Lived is a moving reflection on dreaming, regret, and self-realisation. Following the journey of Aanchal, a woman caught between social expectations and the vague remnants of her once-aspirational life, the story examined the nature of emotional upheaval that surrounds a woman’s experience.

Anchal, the heroine, is a middle-class housewife, having a husband with a decent salary, her own house in Delhi, a car, and a loving son who is getting good grades in school. For everybody her life looks more or less well settled, and there appears to be no room for complaint. She did, however, undergo a few abortions, which is regrettable but not unheard of.

Her life takes a turn after she meets her childhood best friend Malini after long, long years, and how this short meeting would transform Anchal's life is read-worthy. Soon after the meeting with her friend, Anchal is diagnosed with another pregnancy.

The climax is something that readers do not expect and leaves them to reflect on many issues.

The author skilfully weaves their stories together, highlighting the emotional struggles and triumphs of both women. It’s a poignant reminder that life isn’t just about achievements; it’s also about the connections we forge along the way.

The characters are well crafted, especially Aanchal and her sacrifices but also her strength, symbolising the Indian woman. The story explores the themes of identity, self-discovery, and sacrifice prominently, making the story impactful.

Overall, 'A Life Almost Lived' is an engrossing and thought-provoking read that both entertains and makes you think.
