Radha Krishna: A forbidden love story by Nanda B

Radha Krishna: A forbidden love story by Nanda B

The story reflects the shadow worlds of politics and bureaucracy where silence often conceals violence and authority can enable hidden crimes. It also portrays the deep divide between class and caste, and the quiet suffering of those who live beneath these structures.

The story follows the love story in a spectacular manner where Krishna depicts his love to Radha, but he firmly rejects her proposal. She too accepts it with calmness. Their lives get separated, and they get busy in their lives. Krishna gets engrossed in learning how to save lives, while Radha gets entangled in his web of chains, which are invisible yet always followed silently.

Few lines from the book that piqued my curosity to know about this unknown power:
🌿 "Love was not enough.
Love was never enough.
Safety. Stability. Honesty.
These were the medicines she prescribed for life.
And Radha for all his gentleness, for all his broken sincerity lived in."

🌿“Power is not questioned. It is served.”
So he repeated that truth to his own son, believing it was love. And perhaps in his limited way it was. The Boy Who Learned Silence
Radha was not talkative as a child.
He watched."

I liked the way Krishna saved the needy and was more aware of the needs of people and remained firm with her belief and responsibilities. The way Radha rejects her proposal yet feels her immense love and accepts that power is never questioned as he had seen from his childhood. He propels his childhood way of living life when the life of Krishna is in danger. He betrays his age-old beliefs and fights for her. This unsaid love and the way he stands for her against his men who owned him makes this story a compelling read.

The author has meticulously narrated the life of people who are owned by powerful persons through childhood. Through the life of Krishna, the author depicts the life of a girl who is barred with responsibilities and made aware of society around them through childhood. He has depicted their lives and what happens when two such persons lives interact. The language is lyrical yet evocative.

Overall, It is a compelling read to know how power plays its game.
