Ever After by Saroor Sarao

 Ever After by Saroor Sarao

"Ever After" is a haunting and compelling read that lingers in the mind of the reader days after. I was gripped in the story of a young girl who is dropped near an orphanage. The words of her mother always stayed with her and she kept waiting for her many years.

The story is about Jess and her life in orphanage. The narrative moves in two timelines one where she stays in a hotel called " Ever After" and the other of her initial years of orphanage. Both the lives play simultaneously making the reader urge to know how she reached here and what exactly is happening in this hotel.

The way she is secluded to one room of the floor and her condition is dry, crying and weak. The people around her sound suspicious and make you wonder what type of work is taken from Jess. It is quite captivating to quest for more details.

The author has well penned the narrative keeping the layers covered and unfolding it turn by turn. He tries to depict a life of a girl in an orphanage and her emotional uncertainty. The way he turns the story is worth reading.

Overall, it is a gripping read.
